Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

It was supposed to storm yesterday. I think we got a little rain, but mostly just clouds. Don't get me wrong, I love clouds. I really love overcast days. I've just been desperate for a storm, so I was a little disappointed.

But the near-storm weather made for some particularly gorgeous clouds, and on my way back from grabbing a bite for dinner I just had to stop and take a few pictures. I couldn't resist.

Couldn't resist this view.

Silver lining.

Favorite.

I took the liberty of playing with some effects on these last few.

Sepia = favorite.

Side note: If you're wondering what the picture quality is on iPhone 4, I took all of these with my phone. The effects added were all added with apps I downloaded from the App Store. Specifically, CameraBag and Best Camera.

Love the last one!

I'm in North Jersey, and we just had a tornado watch! The storm was awesome, but so quick!

Thank you!

Ooh, tornado watches are always exciting! I always secretly hope to see one, but at the same time I never like to hear about people getting hurt or losing their homes. Conundrum! Heheh :-)

Those are fantastic pics, gotta hand it to the iPhone4....I love clouds...not storms. That would be my husband...

Thanks! I was pretty pleased with the picture quality, myself! :-)

I love storms, but I'm torn because Tucker, my dog, hates them. So I feel kind of guilty for enjoying them while he sits there shivering and being all scared. :-P

Very nice photos. While I browsed through all of them, I was thinking to make sure and ask you what kind of professional camera you had. You have a good eye.

Now I am jealous (just a little) since I still want an iPhone. Hmmmm, maybe the photos will convince my wife to let me get one.....

Thanks! Yep, I just had my phone with me at the time, so I made do! I also use a little Sony Cybershot—it’s handy because I can keep it in my purse or my pocket. But my best camera is a Nikon P90. It’s a great little camera. :-)

I would totally recommend an iPhone. I love mine. I’ll keep my fingers crossed your wife will let you get one, and I hope my pictures are convincing!

Fantastic photos Sarah!

Sorry you didn't get your storm. I can understand your desperation - I think you know how much I love storms too. We had a little one on Thursday which really made my day!

Wow at those pictures and WOW...taken with an i phone! I posted yesterday, using my phone for the pictures but they weren't that good!

I'm getting to where one of the highlights of my day is reading your blog (I should be working on my own...but...) I love the photos and they are so clear. Better quality with the iPhone 4, clearly:) I will have to download the apps you spoke of as I love playing with pictures-and taking them. I'm heading down to the AT&T store in just a bit to purchase my new iPhone 4. Excitement ensues!!

@Kess—Thanks! Supposedly we still have a good chance of getting some storms early next week, so I haven’t given up hope yet. The nice thing about where I’m at is that when it DOES storm, it's usually a multiple day event. :-)

Thunderstorms always make my day! Except on the rare occasion that I’m having a bad day and I have to get out in it instead of stay in and enjoy it. Heheh. Thanks for commenting!

@Tuesday’s Child—Thanks so much! I’m always happy to share pictures I’m proud of. :-)

@Alexis—Thank you! I just checked out your blog! Are you talking about the dragonfly pictures? I think they’re pretty good! Love the idea of telling a story with pictures. Thanks so much for dropping by and commenting!

@June—Oh my gosh! Best compliment ever! Thank you! I think both of the apps I used were under $5. (I’m so cheap when it comes to buying apps!) Two others I use are QuadCam and ColorSplash. They’re pretty fun, too.

Yay for getting an iPhone 4! I’m sure you will love it! Thank you for the comment!

Whoa, some crazy cloud action you got going on there. You and that iPhone 4, you're going to do some crazy stuff together. I hope you never break up...until iPhone5 comes out.
