You Can't Always Get What You Want

I have this problem. Oftentimes, I want what I can't have. This could be any number of things. Stuff, talent, job, whatever. Really, more often than not, it turns out to be stuff.

I only WISH this were my closet!
And sometimes I end up with stuff I shouldn't just because I couldn't say no in the store. My closet is full of things I rarely use but do so enjoy looking at. And today what I'm talking about is...shoes.

Yes, shoes.

I have countless pairs of shoes, many of which I never wear. Specifically, heels. I LOVE high heels. But I don't usually have occasion to wear them. Or, for the more casual pairs that I own, I could wear them, but then I think, "Oh, but my tennis shoes would be so much more comfortable." And so it goes, I have all of these cute shoes that gather dust in my closet, but that I'm proud to own.

But there are just as many times that the shoes I see, and need want, are just out of reach. And by just out of reach, I mean way too expensive to buy. I stumbled upon a pair of those shoes this very day!

And here they are! New Alexander McQueen Mutli-Buckle Ski Ankle Boots. (I know, right? Long name.) Feast your eyes!

Are these not some freakin' fabulous shoes? I fell instantly in love. Ah, the genius of Alexander McQueen. Even though it's likely* I'll never own a pair of these (*read "certain") I can still ogle them, right? I mean, daydreaming doesn't cost any money, at least not last I checked. Which is good, because with a price tag of $1495, all I will ever be able to do is dream about these boots.

So, in the spirit of fantasizing about things that I wish resided in my closet, here are some shoes that I would swoon over—and probably trip in—if only I could call them my own.

I know exactly what you mean. Well, I don't have a lot of shoes, but for me, it's dresses. I've got to have this one because I wore that other one to that one thing so I can't wear it again.

Oh, how I wish I had more money. Some of those pairs are absolutely gorgeous -- though, I don't have a place to wear any of them either. Haha

I have a lot of heels I don't wear, too! I work in a library 5x a week, so I always wear flats to work since I never know how long I'll be on my feet (which is most of the time!).

This summer I started buying wedges. I don't wear them to work, but I'm more willing to wear them on my days off for dates. I tend to only wear my heels for weddings and special occasions. It's sad I know.

I love, love those Prada loafers but I could NEVER spend that much on shoes.

Oh sigh. I love shoes. Really, really, really, really love shoes. And quite frankly, with my height heels are perfect with anything. I wear heels with jean, shorts, skirts, khakis, swimsuits, whatever. :)

That said, I love all these shoes! I have some similar to the first Dolce and Gabbana pair, but those last lace boots...instant love. Now, let's all find a big bank to rob, and everyone will be happy. ;)

@Elizabeth—Ah yes, we each have our own guilty pleasures! :-D

@Heather—Me. Too. More money would solve a lot of problems for me. Ha! I wouldn’t know what to wear ‘em too, either.

@HannahZ—I think you’re right! And, oh!! Purses! I’ve been stuck in perpetual “I want that purse” mode for several years now. In fact, I just might have to do a post like this but for purses. There are SO MANY that I want! :-)

@museumgirl22—Exactly! If I don’t know exactly how long I’ll be required to stand or walk in heels, I tend to avoid them. I do have an easier time with wedges than stilettos, probably because they allow for more total weight displacement. I love love love stilettos but I always feel like I’m on the verge of toppling over!

And sadly, I could spend that much on shoes. I mean, if I had that much extra to spend. Alas, as it is, it would hurt my heart to spend that much on shoes. In a perfect world, where I have money piles that I swim in when I’m bored, THEN I would spend that much on shoes. ;-)

@MissWoodhouse—Mmm, yes. Shoes and I are very close, as well! I think my height would fair well with heels, I just so rarely wear them that when I do, my feet hurt after like…1.5 minutes. Haha! That being said, I do think heels can be worn with anything and everything!

I adore all of these shoes! And yes. The last pair, those lace beauties… Oh how I want them. You pick the bank, I’ll dig up a getaway car! Deal?! ;-D

Those aren't shoes - they're art!

I agree! And art that I would wear! You know, if I could afford it... ;)

With the exception of the
Kors Michael Kors Double-Ankle Strap Sandals, each one of these shoes cost more than my first car. Now, do not allow the price of the car to cast a vision of its quality...it was a hot car that I acquired in a sweet deal for a ridiculous price.
Too bad you can't drive a pair of shoes. :)

Ooh, nice! Congrats on the excellent deal!
Yes, most of these shoes are…way over the top. Still, it’s nice to daydream. :-) I bet if you could drive a pair of shoes, I’d do it!
