Movin' On Up

Literally. That's what more or less the past week of my life has been consumed by. Moving. On up. To a third floor apartment, which let me just tell you, isn't fun when it's over 90 degrees outside. Just sayin'.

Since Tuesday, myself, along with my Mom and Dad, have been moving me out of my old apartment and into my new one. Who knew you could accumulate so much stuff!? And thank goodness I had help, or I might never have managed. The only thing we didn't move ourselves was the sofa. Up three flights of stairs? No sir. We had some movers do that one.

And several days later, I'm still not settled in completely. But I am in nesting mode, so pretty much all of my energy is going to tidying up, decorating, etc. I've got some pictures hung, thanks to a lot of help from my Mom, I'm all set for furniture and decor, it's just not all in place yet. But I'd say I'm at least 80% finished. Which is fantastic, because as of today I have less time than I'd like to just kick back and do nothing. My online Spanish class started today, and I have a feeling it's going to be a rough course for me to take. But, for whatever reason, I have to take a foreign language. Yeah, so I can graduate with a degree in ENGLISH. Not sure about that, but I suppose my only other option besides taking it is to just...not graduate. And that's not going to happen.

So I'm going to suck it up and do what it takes to pass Spanish. No me gusta. I'm kind of (a lot) scared because I took Spanish 1 & 2 a while ago...so now I'm down to 3 & 4. But I don't remember much from the first two, so it's going to be a bit (a lot) of a challenge. But we'll see. I have high hopes. That is, when I'm not stressing about feeling so pessimistic about it. Ha.

Anyway, that's my life the past few days. I'm very excited because I have some company coming in toward the end of the week. Tucker is getting used to the new apartment with me, and so far he's been quite the little trooper. But for now, that's all I've got. So I'm going to leave you with some pictures from the whole hectic ordeal that is the move.

Enjoy!

My OLD room, and some stuff in the process of being moved.

Unpacking my dishes proves to be quite the mess!

Tucker is tired from the trip, and all the excitement!

Dinner break. Delicious Mexican food from Ninfa's!

Hello new sofa! I love it. It's so comfortable!

Brand new remote for a brand new TV!

A corner of my new room, decorated and ready to go!

Tucker wants to know if it's time for bed yet.
It is.

Bless your heart, I understand where you're coming from. We moved at the end of November...we're still sorting and unpacking! It's at a point where it's getting on my nerves...and I begin my last 2 classes in August! Ugh! Tucker is really cute...and your new place looks lovely-congratulations! And good luck on the Spanish class!

That’s the worst part about moving! It seems to take so long to get settled! Thanks for the congrats! I’m loving my new place. And I’m definitely going to need some luck with Spanish. Haha :-)
Good luck with your move and your classes, too!
And I agree, Tucker is really cute. ;-)

All the best on unpacking and with your Spanish...

@Donda—Thanks! I do kinda rock. ;-)

@Queenmatrai—Thank you! I already am. It’s very cozy!

@LadyLindy—Aw, thank you! I love it, too. Especially now that I have curtains up (so now I can sleep late! Haha!)

@Aparna Radhakrishnan—Thanks, I’m definitely going to need it!

Thats really cool that you have your own place. I wish I could afford to do that instead of sleeping at my cousin's.
Cute dog btw.

Oh my goodness, it all looks so pretty and comfy! Of course, Tucker is just as cute as always. :) Good luck with your Spanish class and finishing the last 20%!

Hi! I found your blog a couple of weeks ago when you were on the Blogs of notice list. I just your writing, you're so straight forward and laid back somehow. :)
I immediately clicked the follow button but I really can't get enough so I will (as soon as I've gathered the energy) go back in your archive and start from the beginning. Looking forward to that! Keep up the good work and good luck with the new apartment, education and everything basically. Love from Madde, Sweden

@Mike “Ki Gen” Suazo—I’m really enjoying it so far! It’s just me and my dog, and we get by pretty good. :-)

@MissWoodhouse—Yay! I always love when you comment. :-D It IS pretty and comfy! I’m very proud of it! And thanks, I just took my second Spanish quiz and boy do those stress me out! Maybe soon I’ll have enough time to finish that 20%!

@Matt Bukaty—You. Me. Tex-Mex. Soon, my friend, very very soon! CAN. NOT. WAIT.

@Yolanda Nussdorfer—The packing is the worst! Probably tied by actually hauling boxes into the new place. But it’s such a fun feeling once it’s over! Good luck with your move! :-D

@Heather—Isn’t it awful?! I mean, c’mon! I’m going for an English degree! Not a foreign language degree! Give me grammar, give me papers, but don’t give me a whole new language! Arrrg. And thanks! I’m pretty fond of Tucker myself. ;-)
Thanks for the comment!

@Madde—Thanks so much! I’m really glad you enjoy it! And that’s a great compliment that you’re going back to my old posts. Awesome! :-D

OH your moving sounds very lovely! I'd like to move sometime only we haven't done that since I was a kid. Well, maybe when I get an apt for college. good look with your move! toodles!

Sarah Thomas said...

It was fun! The flights of stairs weren’t, but it was worth it! I hadn’t moved in a long time, either, until I went off to college. :-) I lived in one apartment for almost a year, and now I’m in apartment number two! Ironically, it’s right across the street from my old apartment. Ha! Thanks for dropping by and commenting! I appreciate it. :-D

MMM that Mexican Food looks delicious!

Sarah Thomas said...

It was extraordinarily delicious! But then again, I could’ve just been famished from carrying boxes up three flights of stairs all day. ;-)

Hi! I'm Loryn, I'm 21 and from North Jersey- I'm new to blogger (used livejournal a while back). I came across your blog because it was "noteworthy" or something like that, so I decided to read your last entry. Your post was interesting, and your pup is adorable! Looking forward to reading more!

Hope to hear from you!

oh my goodness. moving is horrible enough when its not 90 degress!

Sarah Thomas said...

@limberella—Thanks for dropping by! I just dropped by your blog and saw your post about Hachikō! Such a cute dog. Now I want to see that movie! :-)

@Lane—Yes! It was pretty un-fun. But it was worth it! I wouldn’t have complained if it’d been a few degrees cooler, though. Ha!

I friggin' love your DOG! The cutest thing ever. And moving is one of those things that I cannot stand. Hence why I refure to leave my apartment even though I'm eating out of Vienne sausage cans because I can't afford the rent since my room mate left to live with her boyfriend. lol. Moving sucks!

Ariel said...

OH yes! I know these feelings exactly! Still haven't received our last shipment from Okinawa, which has our BED IN IT. I don't want to see another air mattress in my life!

Apartment is cute, btw!!

Oh yes, moving just sucks, espicially in the heat. But everything seems to be going well for you at least! A new partment is exciting, so enjoy.

@Melody206—Thanks so much! I’m definitely settling in quickly. I love my new place! And, as always, I’m so happy that you commented! :-D

@Payday_loans—Thank you.

@meu nome é Caroline Julie—Me either, it’s such a pain!

@jamie—Oh man, I sympathize! Sometimes I look around forever thinking, “Now where did that end up?”

@Annah—Aw, thank you so much! I agree. My dog is awesome. ;-)
And I can totally understand your refusal to move. It’s tiring, stressful, and annoying! The end result is nice, but getting there…oh man, it’s a battle. Thanks for commenting! :-)

@Ariel—Ugh, no way! I can’t believe you still don’t have your bed. :-( That stinks! I hope you get it soon! And thank you! I’m very proud of my new apartment!

@6H—Yes! It’s the worst when it’s hot. But things are going pretty smoothly now that I’m…oh, 90% moved in/unpacked. :-)

I am happy to see you starting to get settled into the new place! I am sure it has been a wonderful experience, no matter how stressful. I love moving and hate it at the same time. I would love to fast forward to where I can just decorate. LOL Happy Decorating!

Congrats on your new abode...enjoy! I love your comments about Tucker...he's adorable (but, I'm sure no one has to tell you that).

Sarah Thomas said...

@The Reading Bear—Thank you! It’s been great! The stress was all worth it. And YES! I think we really are soul-blog-mates! Decorating is BY FAR my favorite part of moving! It’s like having a blank canvas and as many paints as I want! :-D

@Kim—Thank you! And Thank you again! I tend to comment about Tucker a lot!
And no, no one HAS to tell me, but I never complain when they do! ;-)
